Your library, wherever it lives
- On your phone or SD card — grant a folder once with Android's system picker and Aloud finds every book in it.
- In your Google Drive — connect your account, point Aloud at your audiobooks folder, and stream your library without filling your phone. Aloud asks for read-only access and uses it only for the folders you choose or open: to list them, play or download their audio, read the book tags it needs for covers, and read transcript files you put there. It never changes anything in your Drive. How Aloud uses Google Drive. (Dropbox and OneDrive support is in progress.)
- Free classics — browse and stream thousands of public-domain audiobooks from LibriVox.
Aloud runs on Android. The Windows version plays books from your cloud storage and the free classics catalog.
Listen and read, together
- Read-along — Aloud can transcribe a book on your device, or pair it with an ebook you import, and highlight the text as the narrator speaks.
- Search inside your books — find a passage in a book's read-along text or in your notes, and play from there.
- Real chapters — embedded M4B/MP3 chapter support, multi-file books, smart title and author detection, covers and ratings.
- Made for listening — lock-screen controls, sleep timer, playback speed, bookmarks with typed or spoken notes.
Private by architecture. Aloud has no servers, no accounts, no ads, no tracking.
Everything — your library, your progress and listening history, your transcripts, your notes — stays on
your device, and in your device's own backup if you use one. Only book titles, authors and catalog
numbers are looked up in public catalogs for covers and ratings, and you can turn that off.
